The Church

There are over 560 members in the congregation, and everyone can be involved.

We have just agreed our next 5 year plan, in which we are going to try to respond to some of the problems in the town. We have already reached out, but we feel there is more we can do with the grace of God, to help and care for others in the community.

The present building has been situated at the foot of the HIgh Street since 1774, by John Reid. It is a large 2-storey classical building with a square tower and steeple- the tower being owned by South Lanarkshire Council. There is an 8-foot statue of William Wallace on the steeple, sculpted by Robert Forrest. The stained glass windows are beautiful, and there is a wonderful pipe organ.

The exterior of the building, after its 2nd restoration in 14 years is almost complete!- Yes, you read correctly. A great deal of hard work has gone into the restoration, from members of the congregation and the community too. Thank you to all.

Following the restoration, the church will be open from 9.30-11.30am on the first Wednesday morning in every month and by arrangement- 01555 662600.
